In vintage fashion, the word “archival” usually means rare and documented; to call a piece of vintage clothing “archival” is to suggest it might be museum-worthy. Manifold Vintage is an archive of vintage clothing, but in another sense. As a trained historian, I understand archives as more everyday than precious. The archives I used for my Ph.D. dissertation were filled with records of ordinary life: employee rosters, floor plans, scribbled note sheets, even café receipts. Manifold Vintage takes cues from these historical archives by showcasing elegant wares that are intended to be not only admired, but also worn day to day.
